15th Dec [189]7

Dr. Alfred Russel Wallace.

Dear Sir,

Mr A. Sonnenschein, who has no connection with this firm, has handed to us your letter to him of 12 Dec. We shall be very pleased to bring out your new book, which should be a considerable success; and have no doubt we can arrange terms which you will think equitable. Would you kindly send us the MS. & diagrams, as you propose, that we may go into the question of costs, size &c? We will propose terms to you a day or two after the receipt. We do not anticipate that there will be any difficulty about selling the Vaccination pamphlet at 1/, or letting the Anti-Vaccn League having 800 copies at a cheaper rate [2] than usual, perhaps 6d, though 30,000 words bound in a stiff cover for 6d may be just impossible. In any case we could charge them at 7d., & will endeavour to achieve 6d. This pamphlet should be rushed through the press at once: it is much wanted.

Yours very faithfully | Swan Sonnenschein
