18th April[?] [189]8.2

Dear Sir,

We are very sorry that so much trouble has arisen in connection with Fig[ure] 70[?]. The origin of the mistake seems to have been that the "Summary of Part I"3 was not numbered as a separate chapter. It was carelessness of on the part of the Printer not sending you the corrected proof with the last revise of 70[?].

You shall have [1 word illeg.] of Fig[ure]. 70[?] to end as soon as we can get them from the Printer and also proof of [1 word illeg.]

We are still negotiating [1 word illeg,] [2] [MS damaged] American writers[?] and until this is received we cannot decide on the <number to be> [MS damaged] printed. The delay is therefore less serious than it might have been.

Yours truly | [signature in initials illeg.]

D[octo]r. A. R. Wallace.
