Dear Sir

We have only received the complete copy of the new edition of "The Wonderful Century" and hope to write to you in a day or two about the page. Meanwhile we write to day that we have the strongest objection to allowing the title. It is absolutely necessary from our point of view that the new book should be known in the trade "The Wonderful Century". There will not be wanting persons who will say [1 word illeg.] a pain on the public if [2] we call it by any other name.

There can of course be no objection to any sub-title you like. How would it do to call The Wonderful Century A Record of New Ideas in Science and Invention in 19^thCentury New Edition Thoroughly revised & enlarged &c. &c.

We shall be glad to have your views on the matter.
