W. Rothenstein Esq.1

Dear Sir

Thanks for proof of portrait. The face is no doubt like, but it seems to me rather too delicate in feature, too small in mouth, too young-looking! and with that very bored expression which I can't help taking on when sitting up to order & being looked at.

What do you think yourself? From not very well, — am now better, & hope when the [2] Spring comes in earnest — if it even does come — to get more out-door air in the garden and a rather more robust look in the face.

So if you are not quite satisfied with this one come again about April or May if convenient.

Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
