Dear Sir,—As it may interest many Clarionettes who are desirous of following up the recent discussions on Native Questions, etc., I append copy of letter received from Dr. Alfred Russel Wallace, through the medium of your good self.

In the treatment of the race aspect of the current Colonial problems, Humanists, who are desirous of seeing a sane statesmanlike policy grafted on to sound scientific principles, will be amply repaid by a perusal of the article by Dr. Wallace referred to below.—Yours fraternally,

Snufff.

[Copy.]

Dear Sir,—I have just read with much pleasure your very excellent article in the Clarion with the title, "Our Black Brother." It represents the teachings of good science, as well as sound morality. I therefore venture to call your attention to an article of mine in the current "Independent Review," entitled, "The Native Problem in South Africa and Elsewhere," in which I try to point out a rational mode of governing and treating natives in our various Colonies and Dependencies, which, while not too advanced for current public opinion in the Colonies, yet serves as an introduction to a more just and humane, as well as more politic, mode of treatment than that hitherto adopted.—Yours very truly,

(Signed) Alfred R. Wallace.

A note, including a letter from Wallace, printed on page 5 of the 23 November 1906 issue of the Clarion.
