Letter (WCP535.535)

Woldingham,

Surrey

9 Jan[uary] 1913

Dear Dr. Wallace

Accept our hearty congratulations on your latest achievement & may you see your century.

Science is shamefully neglected: had you been a miserable politician, or a wretched millionaire (maybe out of the hard earned halfpence of the poor) you might have been a peer.

But I think it likely that you have desired more lasting & innocent gratification from your labours than they from theirs and have certainly earned the gratitude & respect of all thinking people.

Yours faithfully, | W J Horn [signature]

Annotated in [pencil?] in the top left corner "Ansd".
