My dear Mrs Hooker

I am quite unable to write anything for your meeting, as I have already told Dr. Willis. All I can do is to wish you a successful meeting, and to assure you that Prof[essor]. Crookes1 is as firm a Spiritualist as ever, having long since declared in a paper read to the Psyc[hical]. Res[earch]. Society, that he held firmly to all he had written on the subject, & had since seen no reason whatever to alter his opinions and beliefs.

With kind regards, | I am, | yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace[signature]

Sir William Crookes (1832-1919). British chemist and science journalist. Following the death of a brother in 1867, he became a supporter of psychic phenomena and mediumship.
