[1]1

The Hamilton, Washington

Monday Morning

Dear Mrs. Hooker2

I was very sorry I could not come last night but I caught a severe cold on Saturday night, and felt so poorly that I obliged to take a hot bath and go to bed at 9 o’clock, as I was afraid I might be laid up tomorrow.

Believe me | Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

The initials "N.D." (probably "no date") are inscribed in the top right corner of the page. It is not in Wallace’s hand-writing.
