Dear Sir

I have much pleasure in informing you that at a Meeting of the Asiatic Society of Bengal held on the 7th current, you were elected an Honorary Member of the Society, in recognition of your great services to natural Science, with special reference to the results of your travels in the Malay Archipelago which come more particularly under the cognisance of this Society. -

The publications of the Society from the beginning of this year will be forwarded to you if you will kindly state to what address you wish them to be sent. -

A copy of the rules of the Society and a list of the present Honorary Members is forwarded herewith.
