Dear Mr. Carruthers
If you can not tell me yourself perhaps you can tell me who can give me information as to the exact localities of Orchis militaris & o. simia, said to grow plentifully on the north bank of the Thames between Reading and Goring. I am growing here a good many Orchises and want to add these to my collection, but as it is a long way to go I do not like to go alone without [2] information from someone who has local knowledge. If any one who knows the locality would join me in an excursion there next week I should be glad.
I remain | Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
