7th Feb[ruar]y.

Dear Sir

My purpose was to add one or two illustrations to a small book on the Forms of Ice and Glaciers2 which I am about to publish. Should you have the least scruple about the matter pray do not hesitate to tell me.

Yours truly | John Tyndall [signature]

I should be quite content with one or two illustrations — not including your frontispiece. [1 word illeg. struck through] But I shall be also content to f[o]rego all[.]

'Prof. Tyndall / to A R Wallace / naturalist' is written in pencil across top left corner of page. There is no indication of the year, but it is c.1860 (see note 3).
