My dear Bowdler Sharpe[,]
Many thanks for the summary of described Birds (sp. & gen.) which you have been so good as to send me. I suppose the fossil birds yet known are not more than about 100? If you have any means of giving me, even approximately the members of species known [2] from each of the <site?> Regions, or from the Neotropical, Ethiopian, & Oriental, I should be very glad to have them.
Or can you refer me to any moderately recent book in which this is given?
I shall be very glad to see you again if you are over in this neighbourhood.
Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
