My dear Will1

As you are in a hurry about the bible I will give you the only information I have at hand. The "Breeches Bible" was first printed at Geneva by English circles in 1560. The first English Edition was in 1576. Chamber Encyclopedia says — "The version was provided with racy notes, which made it a favourite with the common people." It will therefore be interesting, but as several editions of it were apparently published it is not at all rare, though I dare say copies in good condition and with old building would fetch perhaps a pound or more. [2] Go into any second-hand book shop in Rugby & they will be able to tell you approximately what it is worth.

Tell us what the works are at Rugby & what will be your work if you stay. Of course Rugby being a Junction is a good centre for "works" but it struck me that perhaps the cute Yankees had also in view the fact of Rugby school, & that if they invited boys to see the works that would be an excellent advertisement among wealthy people all over England.

If they are not up to that, mention it to your boss — to give an afternoon every week for a limited number of boys to go over the works & have it all explained to them. (You might do the explaining!) Then in [3] all their homes, they would talk about the works, & in any Electrical work wanted by the paten[?] of boys they would have a good chance of getting it.

The house is getting on. The upstairs rooms will be all floored this week, and next week I hope the plastering of that floor will begin. When at Lemington, or another day, you might go on to Stratford & see Shakespeare’s birth place & country (wh[ich] I have never seen). Kenilworth Castle is also worth seeing. Let us know what luck with the coins.
