Dear Sir,

In the sub-keeper's absence, I acknowledge with many thanks your letter of 24th. July to Mr. Hobson, and your very kind offer to present the specimens collected by Alfred Russel Wallace, O.M., to the Museum.

There is no question, I should say, that we should very much appreciate the donation of these objects, not only for their intrinsic interest, but also on account of their association with your distinguished father, and the fact that some of them have been illustrated in his classical books on Malaya and the Amazon.

Could they be sent by parcel post or carrier, or would you prefer someone to come down to Bournemouth to collect them?

In the latter case we might have to wait a week or two, as we are very short of staff at the present time.

Yours faithfully, | H. J. Braunholtz [signature]

(Assistant-Keeper).
