W. G. Wallace Esqre,

Ashley Chambers,

Boscombe,

Hants.

Dear Mr Wallace,

I read your letter of Nov[ember]. 23 with very much gratification. I am extremely pleased to hear that you have decided to send two of your father's Note-books to the Museum, where I am sure they will be useful in giving information with regard to specimens in the Collection.

It is the policy of the Trustees to give facilities for study to serious students, and I have no doubt that the note-books will be accessible to any such persons as have real reasons for wishing to consult them. If we should desire to refer to the journals, on the other hand, it will be possible for us to do so at the Linnean Society.

I have not yet heard from Professor Poulton1; but from what you say he is not due for a day or two.

Will you and your sister in the meantime accept my very best thanks for your kindness. I shall have great pleasure in reporting this valuable and interesting present to the Trustees.

I remain, | Yours very truly, | S. F. Harmer [signature]
