Hants.

Dear Mr Wallace,

As I previously informed you, the receipt of the two note-books referring to the Malay Collections was to be reported to the Trustees at their meeting on Jan[uary]. 27. This was duly done, and I have no doubt you have already received, or will shortly receive, the official thanks of the Museum for what we regard as a most interesting and valuable donation. I hope that you and your sister appreciate that we are extremely grateful to you for your kindness in this matter.

On my showing one of the books to Mr Oldfield Thomas, who has the care of our Mammals, he at once asked whether there were any similar MS. records of the Amazonian Collections. It seems that we obtained some of the specimens through a dealer, but the localities were very defective. Additional information about the S[outh]. American specimens would be most valuable.

I should be greatly obliged to you if you would tell me whether any such notes exist. They may be contained in what you gave to the Linnean Society.

I remain, | Yours very truly | S. F. Harmer [signature]
