Dear Sir,

In sending you the enclosed formal letter of thanks, I would like to add my appreciation of your kindness to this Society in sending these interesting MSS. for preservation.

As you may have heard, there is a possibility that a biography of Richard Spruce2 may be published in the next few years. The MSS. you have sent to the Society will of course be made available for consultation here, and should prove of great help. During last summer a young American was so interested in Spruce's MS. Diary3 that he had several pages of it photographed [2] photographed [sic], as well as some of the Russel Wallace original drawings made whilst on the Amazon.

Yours faithfully | Spr Savage [signature] | LIBRARIAN & ASSISTANT SECRETARY.
