Dear Sir,

The only definite information I have about William Greenell is taken from the grave in St Andrew's churchyard Hertford which bears the following inscription

"Under this tomb with his beloved wife are deposited the remains of William Greenell, a native of this parish, who resided 56 years in St Mary-le-bone, in the County of Middlesex, where he acquired an ample fortune, with universal esteem and unblemished reputation. He died the 17th day of January, 1791, aged 71." years.

Ann

His wife "Ann, for many years the tender wife and faithful friend of William Greenell of Great Portland Street, St Mary-le-Bone" died July 7th 1790 aged 70 [2]

William Greenell seems appears to have left no children. and his nephew John Greenell appears to have been the executor of his will & to have made frequent payments from William Greenell's estate to Mary Anne & Martha Greenell — his own children.

I have an old mourning ring which came to my father from Miss Roberts & which bears the inscription "Richard Russell, Esq. [word illeg.] 30 Sep[tember] 1784 [word illeg.] 61."

Can If you can give me any information about this gentleman? I should be very much obliged.

I very much appreciated the courtesy & kindness you & Mrs Gorringe extended to me when I called upon you to see the portraits[.]

Yours very truly | W.G.W. [signature]
