Dear Sir Wallace,

I am sending you a copy of the book about our late expedition to South New Guinea, which you have kindly allowed me to dedicated to you. Please do me this honour of accepting it as a mark of my most sincere admiration of the first [2] and greatest of the naturalists who have visited New Guinea.

I am now on my way back to South New Guinea with the intention of reaching, if I can, the high mountains of that region and bringing back zoological and botanical specimens. The difficulties in the way are many and great, but I hope to be able to reach a high altitude.

If you have time to read this book and time to tell me what is your opinion [3] of it, a note addressed to me c/p HongKong Shanghai Bank Batavia, Java would be forwarded in course of time to me and it would be greatly appreciated.

Believe me | Yours very truly | A. F. R. Wollaston [signature].
