Illustrious Sir,
Mr. Remo Sandron3 Editor, who has acquired the translation rights for your work "The Man’s place in the Universe"4[sic] has charged me to revised [sic] said translation for what concerns its scientific contents. — While accepting with great pleasure this task, I felt the desire to have the translation preceded by a short explanatory preface, in order to have the readers know the importance of your theory and the points wherein in [sic] differs from the Casualty[?] law5. I dissent from you on the Finalism theory6, but I have been bound to recognise the impartiality of your study, and the honesty wherewith you admit the possibility to explain Man’s existence on Earth by the Casualty[?] law.
You deserve great admiration for this, w[h]ich is a new title of glory for you who have, at the same time that [sic] Darwin7, conceived the immortal theory of selection.
I send you a copy of the said translation, praying you to accept it as a[n] homage from me, and together I send you one of my own works, viz8: "Il problema delle origini" 9 in which I followed your method that is to briefly expose the results of the more recent scientific researches.
Please accept my best regards and believe me
Faithfully yours | Giacomo Lo Forte10 [signature]
