Dear Dr Wallace,

I instructed my publisher to-day to send you a free copy of my book, which will appear on Oct. 8th and which is sure to interest you. May I draw your attention more especially to Chapter I and IX to XIII containing the history of phrenology.

When you can spare the time I shall be delighted to hear your opinion of the book.

That the scientific press [2] will abuse me is almost a certainty; on the other hand I am equally convinced that men of education, who are not prejudiced against the subject, will be converted by the overwhelming mass of proofs. If I find sufficient sympathisers I would propose the founding of a "Gall[?] — Society".

If you were so good to send a note to Mr Stead to recommend to him my book are "the book of the month", I should be greatly indebted [3] to you. I am trying to get other letters to the same effect. Such prominence in the "Review of Reviews" would influence the sale very much.

I am sending you the "Bristol Mercury" with a correspondence on my favorite topic.

With best wishes for your health and kind regards to Mrs Wallace and yourself, believe me | sincerely Yours | Bernard Hollander1 [signature]
