My dear Wallace2:

The news that the inevitable end of earthly activities has come to your honoured father, leaves one with the sense of a great blank; the world is poorer now that his voice is forever hushed. But the world is so much richer for his life and work, that the sense of loss is for many of us overpowered by the thought of thankfulness that he lived, and that we were privileged to know and love him. Pray be assured of our deepest sympathies with you and yours.

Yours most sincerely | Silvanus P. Thompson3 [signature]
