W.B. Hemsley Esq.

Dear Mr. Hemsley

My friend Mrs. Fisher1 (author of the Short History of Nat[ural]. Science)2 is writing a book to popularize the recent discoveries on fertilisation & of Briteila[?] Plants

She has written to me to tell her where she can find a figure (crl?)[?] of the lichen Claydonia cornucopioides. I find in London (Enc. Pl.) a reference to Eng.Bot. for C. coccifera Achs[?] of which C. cornucopiodes is there given as a variety, not then figured. To save you trouble I enclose a directed P.card on which I shall be obliged if you can give the reference wanted.

Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
