Letter (WCP6334.7328)

1 S[ain]t Mary’s Terrace,

Paddington W[est].

Oct[ober] 9. 1883.

My dear Mrs Wallace2,

Miss Zwimern[?] & Miss Thomas are coming down to Witley3[?] next Friday for a few days & will most likely go over to see you — Therefore I write to give you a piece of news, which you would rather hear first from me — [2] I am engaged to be married to D[octo]r Fisher (formerly of New Zealand) a very old friend and the father of Mrs Heriot whom you have heard of my visiting at Southsea —

I will tell you more about it when I come to see you. I indeed have not spread the news generally, as it will not be for another six months at least, but as Miss Z[wimern][?] [3] asked me how much she might tell I thought I had better write it now —

My home will be in Devonshire when it comes — Do you remember my asking you if you thought I could keep up work in the country? — Tell Mr Wallace I mean to go on working — Love to William4 & Violet5

Yours affectionately | Arabella B Buckley6 [signature]
