Dear Sir,

re a Book of Quotations4.

Thank you very much for your letter of yesterday’s date. The quotation in question is: "On a Peacock’s Feather", in Darwinism5 (1889), p[age]. 300. The book of quotations will be published by Williams and Norgate, Ltd., to be published in late spring or early summer, 1950; they have asked me not to voice it abroad at this early stage, and I shall therefore be pleased if you will treat it as confidential.

I am a great admirer of your father’s writings and of his well-known unselfishness. I might mention that this particular quotations book will concern itself especially with natural history. If there is any particular passage of his writings which you think I ought to consider more fully, please do not hesitate to let me know.

With compliments, | Yours very truly | E. F. Linssen6 [signature]
