W. G. Wallace2 Esq.,

Ashley Chambers,

Boscombe, Hants.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your letter of the 11th. inst[ant]. My Anthology, which is to be entitled "The Indictment of War"3, will consist of quotations condemnatory of war from every possible point of view, by leading writers — theologians, politicians, scientists, philosophers, poets, men of letters, etc. — of all ages, irrespective of nationality, political or religious creed, and it will not be published by or for any political or religious party. I think this will be quite satisfactory to you, and thank you for your permission.

I have the permission of the English publishers of both books4, conditional, of course, to you also being agreeable and I will write to the Editor of "The Clarion"5 and also to the American publishers6 if you would be good enough to let me know who these are.

Thanking you in anticipation, [hand-written]

Yours faithfully | H. Stanley Redgrove7 [signature]
