Harvey, William Henry (1811-1866) Irish botanist who specialised in algae. He spent several years in South Africa, and was the author, with German botanist Otto Wilhelm Sonder of the Flora Capensis (7 vols. 1859-1933). His main algal herbarium is located at Trinity College Dublin.
Turrill, William Bertram (1890-1961) Keeper of the Herbarium and Library, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, where he introduced a mathematical classification of leaf shapes. He was distinguished for his experimental and genetic approach to taxonomy of British plant species and for his knowledge of the floras of the Near East.
Wallace, William Greenell (1871-1951) Electrical engineer, second son and third child of ARW.
