Your Father’s letters are safely to hand. We have just returned from Aldershot where we have been staying for a time since Alfred joined his corps on mobilization. He was married on the 6th at Aldershot getting away from his military duties for an hour for the purpose. He went off late last night but we don’t know from what port nor whither. He is in command of a section of R[oyal]. E[ngineers]. Signal company and has about 30 horses and 35 men working field telegraphs. We saw them practising yesterday laying a cable line and reeling it up again at the gallop: it was fine!
