My dear Carruthers

I am writing an article on "Epping Forest"1 & want some information on its Botany. Can you refer me to any accounts of it or list of its plants, especially trees & bog-plants. Or can you refer me to any local botanist or any one who has worked at the Essex Flora.

I shall be glad of a few lines of testimonial from you at your convenience. Make [2] it short & almost wholly referring to my having had practical experience of planting, & made a special study of the subject, as I hear that being "scientific" is my greatest danger with the Committee!

Believe me | Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

P.S. Asa Gray2 has just sent me his delightful lecture on the Temperate Forests which I am going to use largely in my paper.
