Parkstone, Dorset
Octr 7th, 1892
Dear Mr Davies
If I were still living at Godalming I shd have <had> much pleasure in giving you another lecture, but to come to you, on purpose, and in the winter, is really more than I can promise.
I have also had to refuse invitations to lecture at Haslemere, & at other places, all for very good reasons to the inviters. I hope you [2] and Mrs Davies, & all your family, are in good health. Violet is at Liverpool in charge of a Kindergarten attached to a Girls' High School & Will is at Newcastle-on-Tyne learning the practical work of Electrical Engineering with a large firm — Messrs Holmes — where he is apprenticed for two years, & seems to like the place, the work, & the workmen very much. He has to [3] be at the Shops every morning at 6 o'clock, & work the regular hours, which itself is a good training in real work.
With best wishes | Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
