Rosehill, Dorking

July 27th. 1877

Dear Sir Joseph

I have sent in my name as a candidate for the office of Assistant General Secretary of the British Association, and if you are not already pledged to any one else I trust you may be able to give me your support.

I have long been looking out for some appointment of the kind, but this is the only thing hitherto that comes within the range of my abilities.

I remain | Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

Sir Joseph Hooker
