Dear Mr Marchant

I was just sending off your proofs of your "Biographical Notice" when your "wire" arrived.

It is on the whole excellent especially the latter half. I have made a good many small corrections in order to express my views with more accuracy. But the whole chapter seems to me too good for its place! as it does not deal mainly or especially, [2] with my social & political views. It seems more suited to form a chapter of the Darwin & Wallace book. However it is certainly a very complete, accurate and appreciative sketch of my "Life" and on the whole the best that has yet appeared, and I sincerely thank you for the care with which you have written it and [3] for the great amount of labour it must have cost you.

Believe me | Yours very sincerely | Alfred R. Wallace [signature] [4]
