Dear Mr. Marchant

Will Messrs. Cassell supply the Geneval[?] Publisher with a proof or plate of my photo. in the "Morality" book, for the French translation of my "World of Life"? If so please ask them to send it in reply to the enclosed letter ?

I think I could explain better my indebtedness to "Spiritualism" when you [2] come & talk over it.

As to "Mendelism" it is too laborious to write about, but when you go into it I can lend you the necessary books.

My view is that it is antagonistic to Evolution!

I send you now the Copy of my "Morality" which I promised you, with a statement as to the origin which I hope will please you.

Yours very sincerely | Alfred R. Wallace [signature] [3]

P.S. I think it not unlikely that Madame Basbey[?] may wish to translate my "Environment & Morality" into French. With all my books published by Macmillan they used to let me have the whole produce[?] whether Royalty or purchase — usually very small, for foreign transactions. I wonder if Cassells' will do the same.
