April 10th 1913.

Dear Mr Marchant

I receive the "Reviews" you sent me with thanks. I shall be glad to see another batch when you have them. They are either very flattering or very comtemptuous — but the adverse ones never try to grapple with the argument[.]

I enclose an account from Casseller[?] Co., about 3 copies — which I do not understand, as I have only had, first, 12 and then 20 copies [2] Re Murray, when you have made final arrangements with him, I thought of writing to him asking him to give me a Royalty of 5 per cent, for the use of my name & my cooperation and assistance as to the subjects included & the accuracy of the facts, leaving you a free hand in the actual writing & in the opinions you may [1 crossed-out word illegible] express.

In writing I should take it for granted that this should not be deducted [3] from your Royalty.

Also I think something should be agreed about a future cheap edition at 1/-. The cheap "Man's Place in the Universe"1 has sold 7560 copies up to Dec. 31st last, while the original edition had practically ceased selling. That shows the immense demand for books at 1/- if at all popular & instructive.

I hope you will soon get rid of your Influenza.

Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
