Dear Mr Marchant

I have, with the assistance of my son, carefully corrected the proof of the "Labour Unrest" paper. It has taken all the time I could give to it for 3 or 4 days. Will you yourself undertake to do any further correcting the revised, & I hope final, proof will require & let me have 2 clean copies as made ready for press?

You will see I have cut [2] it up into eleven chapters instead of seven, which, with the additional matter will make it about 12,000 words, or about that of the "New Tracts for the Times." As it is in larger type it will fill about 60..70 pages.

I am not sure that Fisher Unwin may not object to the publication, but as he had the offer of it as it is, and made no stipulation as regards it either by letter or in the agreement, he has [3] certainly no right or reason to do so.

As to your Darwin Wallace book, I presume the same Royalty will apply to Colonial Editions as to the English one. Also to a later 1/- edition, as to which some agreement should be come to, as it will probably be a book that would have a very large sales in that form —

Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace

P.S. Thanks for the additional "Reviews". Most of them are poor stuff — a few intelligent & good.

A.R.W. [4]
