Dear Sir
Many thanks for the review of my book which you have been so good as to write & send me. I have quantities of Darwin's letters but they almost all contain matters of such personal or scientific interest that I cannot yet part with them. I send you however an envelope directed by Darwin. Also a letter from Dr. James Croll which I hope may be acceptable. [2]
I am rather in confusion, having just moved to this place or I might perhaps find more letters, but I have usually only kept those of some interest to myself.
Yours faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
