Dr. Sir
Please convey my thanks to the Syndics of the University Press for their kindness in sending me the valuable and very handsome volume of "Darwinism & Modern Science".
To yourself I feel personally indebted for the footnote on p.71, pointing out a misstatement which the "Mutationists" are continually making. Perhaps [2] you saw Prof. Hubrecht's monstrous reiteration of it in the "Contemporary Review" of Nov. 1908, to which I replied in the following issue.
A hasty glance at the Commemoration Volume shows me that it is full of interest, and that it will occupy a good deal of my spare time for some months to come.
