Dear Mr. Slater

I enclose titles of a few of the best books on British Entomology.

I have put up in a box the lot of Australian plants I spoke to you of and will send them to you by Sutton. Some I fear are infested with weevils & if worth keeping will want dressing with weak solution of corrosive sublimate or some other preservative. To fill up the box I have sent [2] a few specimens of alpine plants which I gathered some fifteen years ago in Switzerland & which may be of interest to some one. I send them by goods train & I suppose your Society will not mind paying the carriage for them. I was very glad I staid [sic] with you for I am sure the excellent dinner you gave me did me good,— but it [3] took me two or three days quiet at home to recover from my railway indigestion & fatigue.

Believe me | Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

P.S. I think I left the cartes[?] you gave me. I find that I have not a single copy of some left, but will remember you when I get another lot. | A.R.W.
