Dear Mr. Slater
I was very glad to have your letter & to hear that the lost "Journal" has been found, & also that the letters to Mr. Teasdale have been preserved, & can be had. I shall be glad to have it (the Journal) as soon as possible, and also the letters to compare with it. I will then write to Macmillan, or to some other publisher to see what terms can be made (if they will undertake it) of which I am not sure. The letters to [2] Sir W. Hooker & to Mr. Bentham will furnish more matter, & these I can have copied.
How was it that you had overlooked this book for so long?
Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
