Dear Mr. Slater
I see by some of Spruce's letters that he sent, at different times, a good many insects — butterflies & beetles — to Mr. Samuel Stevens for sale. There must therefore be a number of letters from S. Stevens about these collections, stating who bought them, & what was thought of them, and also accounts, which I much want to see.
I forget if I returned to you [2] a lot of letters I did not want — if so perhaps some of Stevens' were among them. Any how if you can lay yours hands on these (Stevens') I shall be much obliged to you if you will send them to me.
I have just been going over the whole Mss. for the 4th. or 5th. time to make final reductions or re-arrangements, & hope in a week or two to [3] send them to Macmillan.
Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
