Broadstone, Wimborne.
Feby 3rd. 1908
Dear Mr. Slater
I have one more query for you, and then I think I shall have all that is needful for the Spruce biography.
I find in a letter to Mr Borrer1 (with whom he had a continuous correspondence from 1843 to 1848) that he speaks of "Sam. Gibson2, my first adviser in Bryology".
Did he know Gibson, or did he only refer to a book? There [2] is I think a "Gibson's British Flora" — but does it contain Mosses[?]
Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
P.S. Mr Borrer kept all Spruce's letters, & after his death, the family gave them to Mr. Mitten, and as I am Mitten's executor, they have fortunately come to me.
