Frith Hill, Godalming
Decr 6th 1886
Dear Mr. Watson
I have asked my publisher to send you a copy of my little book on "Bad Times" which I think, if you have not seen it, may be of interest to you as [1 word illeg.] an arguement against war which will appeal to the unequalities that do send, as I demonstrate (I think) that a large part of the Depression of Trade of the last twelve years is directly due to increased War expenditure.
It was a great pleasure to me [2] to be in a home where the opinions of the family were so much in accord with my own, and thanking both yourself and Mrs. Watson for your kind hospitality.
I remain
Yours very truly
