Dear Sir

I enclose you a copy of a very thoughtful paper by a young friend of mine on the "India" problem — which I should think you will find veryboth thoughtful & original. His mother is a very old friend of ours, a high intelligent, advanced & thoughful English lady who has married a Ceylonese gentleman, a former member of the Legaslative Council. Their only son who [2] has inherited his father's property in Ceylon, was wholly educated in England but has resided for some years now in Ceylon, & has travelled in India, & has earnestly taken up the cause of his "father-land".

You can if you like reprint it (as he has issued it privately) or write an article on it- and the fine translation of the new "National Song of India" [3] is well-wroth making widely known.

Mr Coomara-Swamy has been trained as a Geologist & expects to get appointed Colonial Geologist in Ceylon very shortly

Yours very truly

Dear Sir,

I enclose you a copy of a very throughtful paper — by a young friend of mine — on the "India" problem — which I think you will find both thoughtful & original. His mother is a very old friend of ours, a high intelligent, advanced, and thoughtful English lady who married a Ceylonese gentleman, a former member of the Legeslation Legaslative Council. Their only son who has inherited his father's property in Ceylon, was wholly educated in England but has resided for some years now in Ceylon, & has travvelled in India & has earnestly taken up the cause of his "father-land".

You can if you like repreint it (he has issued it privately) or write an article on it — and the fine translation & the new "National Song of India" is well-worth making widely Known.

Mr. Coomara-Swamy has been trained as a geologist & expects to get appointed Colonial Geologist in Ceylon very shortly.

Yours very truly
