W. E. Clarke Esq.
Dear Sir
So I see you have written an account of the Philippines in the "Ibis" last year, I wrote to ask you if you can kindly give me the total number of species now known, to correct the statement of p.388 of my "Island Life", of which I am preparing a new edition. Please give me the Land of the Water bits [?] seperately, the letter including the old [1 word illeg.] & Waders.
I shall also be much oblidged [2] if you can give me the names of any other Philippines species of Mammalia to add to the list given at p. 387 in a footnote.
I do not know who man makes a speciality of Philippines zoology which is my [1 word illeg.] for writing to you.
Believe me
Yours very truly
