Am glad you are settled at last though it is delay to go to Jamaica. Perhaps Mr. Wardlwworth may do something better for you at the last moment. Anyhow I hope he can give you an introduction [to] someone to stay with the time you have to be in Jamaica.

Of course you must now acc<ept> Janson as Agent, but I would ag[MS burned] say to him that it is only the the lar<ge?> buyers of whose purchases you [MS burned] to know, like the B. Museum <or?> Druce, &c. these you must [MS burned] I told Miss Lin[MS burned] [2] would be your agent & that she could see all your collections there. How it is possible to give a price when you know nothing about the value of the species or the proportion of rarities? They might be dear at ^s1/- or cheap at ^s5/- each. You undertook, I thought, to send everything to Jauson. Why change for the sake of a person who may not buy more than a pound’s worth in a year, perhaps not so much. They (Jausons) will have good reason to complain I think. I think the best way will be to write to Miss Linter where you are sending any shells, which which [MS burned] not be for a year or more, [3] and tell her that you find you cannot send things separately to single buyers.

If Jansons do not send you satisfactory accounts, it will be easy after a year to give up sending to them, or as soon as you have enough money on hand.

I shall be glad to hear what Mr. Wardleworth thinks of your scheme. Give me all particulars bef<ore> you start.
