Letter (WCP7232.8426)

[1]1

Alfred R. Wallace sends his kind regards to Miss Annie Mitten2, & begs her acceptance of the enclosed small remembrance for herself & sisters,3 with his best wishes & the Compliments of the Season.

Flora's name, (probably because it is Latin) was not to be had, so she must accept "a New Year's Gift" instead.

At the top of the page in the centre is a colour image of a Forget-me-not plant (Mysotis). It sits in the middle of the text, in red, 'A HAPPY NEW YEAR'.
ARW and Annie were married in April 1866. Raby, P. 2001. Alfred Russel Wallace: A Life. Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press. [p.187].
