Frith Hill, Godalming.

May 11th. 1882

Dear Sir

I write at once to say that I cannot undertake a paper on Darwin,1 because I have arranged to do a lot of Exm. Papers2for Prof. Judd3 at South Kensington which will occupy every minute of my time for 3 weeks beginning next week.

If you will allow me to recommend a writer I would name Mr. Grant Allen4, who for appreciation of Mr. Darwin’s work and brilliancy of style cannot be surpassed.

yours faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
