My dear Sir

Your kind invitation dated June 2nd. only reached me today on the eve of my return to England. All June I was in California & only returned East ten days since, when the summer was too far advanced to make the country very interesting to me. I had a few days at the Michigan Agricultural College where I lectured & where the botanists showed me some fine native forests & swamps. I spent a week botanising in the Rocky Mountains & was greatly charmed.

With kind regards, Believe me | yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
