Letter (WCP7292.8498)

[1]1

Aldermaston

Sunday [29 July 1883]

Dear Mr. Wallace

I should have liked so much to show you my African work, & some other things in my flat – I return tomorrow morning[.] If you could come that afternoon or Tuesday morning (to 3 victoria street) you would find me at home – if not if you will allow me I will bring my work down to show you [2] when you return home in the autumn — & with kind regards to Mrs. Wallace

I remain | yours vy truly | Marianne North2 [signature]

The letter appears to be a reply to ARW's postcard (WCP6984) to her, which ARW posted on Friday 27 July 1883. How else could she have known that he was going away and returning in the autumn? She also seems to have known that he was departing on Wednesday.
North, Marianne (1830-1890). British biologist and botanical artist.
