Dear Lord Walden1

I have very much pleasure in lending you my Malayan Timaliidae2 and Brachypodide3, as I had great difficulty in making out the species and was quite beaten by the genera. I think you will find some very interesting obscure things, and a few undescribed species. I hope the Malacca birds may lead you on to do the whole of the true Malay Islands as well [2] (Sumatra Java & Borneo)

Will you be so good as to see that the number of specimens corresponds with the enclosed note, & if so please initial & return it me. I send them in a box addressed to you at Chiselhurst.

The six Celebes birds shall be left at the Zool[ogical]. Soc[iety]. rooms as you desire.

Believe me | Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
